Google Plans to stop reading Emails to Tailor Adverts
Google’s practice of using email data to tailor advertising has been greatly criticized by privacy stakeholders and this, with so many other pressures have made the company to put an end to the method. They will no longer scan the contents of your emails to serve up personalized ads.
Google announced the change in a blog post yesterday Friday. It will go into effect later this year. The move is in line with Google’s existing G Suite Gmail service for businesses, but this doesn’t mean you won’t see targeted ads in Gmail.
