China debuts train that can hit speeds of nearly 400 miles per hour.

China has revealed a prototype for a new high-speed Maglev train that is capable of reaching nearly 385 miles per hour. The train could be operational within 3-10 years, according to Professor He Chuan, vice president of Southwest Jiaotong University, which worked on the prototype. It runs on high-temperature superconducting power that makes it appear as if the train is floating over magnetized tracks. The country’s first high-speed Maglev train, which began operating in 2003, runs at around 250 mph.
